High standards. Warm hearts. And a team you’ll actually enjoy working with.

We design timeless, layered interiors for homeowners across the South Bay, Los Angeles, Orange County, and beyond who are done cropping out the corner of the room in every photo and ready for a home they genuinely can't stop showing off.

If that’s what you’re looking for, we’d love to meet you!

Hi, I’m Julie.

I like to describe myself as a country club girl who isn't afraid to cuss. And honestly, that mirrors how I approach design as well — timeless, elevated interiors meant to be lived in. Because real life is messy, but shouldn't coming home feel like a reset?

A beautiful space that puts it all on hold, even just for a moment? That's been my philosophy from day one.

As a kid, I was constantly rearranging my bedroom, then my parents' living room, then anyone else's space I could get my hands on. I soon became very aware that this wasn't just a hobby. It was just how I see the world.

That instinct eventually led me somewhere unexpected. I graduated from Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism — a proud Sun Devil who never spent a single day in a newsroom. Instead, I found my way into account management for national advertising agencies and then to project management at The Walt Disney Company, where I oversaw complex, high-stakes marketing projects.

It turned out that holding a creative vision in one hand while managing a hundred moving parts with the other was exactly the skill set design would one day demand of me. I just didn't know it yet.

After stepping away to raise my three kids, I went back to school at Otis College of Art & Design and UCLA's Interior Architecture program, and launched JKB Home Design.

Today, I lead a small, close-knit team out of our studio in Palos Verdes Estates, working with clients across the South Bay, Los Angeles, Orange County, and beyond.

We're drawn to spaces that feel collected over time rather than designed all at once. Traditional at the foundation. Layered with texture, color, and warmth. Elevated enough to feel special, but livable enough to feel like yours.

My job is to carry all of it (the details, the decisions, the coordination) so that the only thing left for you to do is walk through the door and finally feel at home.

Meet the Team

Great design doesn't happen by accident. It takes the right team — each person showing up every day with their own strengths (a.k.a their superpowers), and a shared commitment to getting it exactly right.

  • I’m the creative heart behind every project. I'm the one who walks into a space and immediately sees what it could be — then builds a plan to get it there with the kind of precision and care that makes the whole process feel.

OUTSIDE THE STUDIO: I am the happiest when I am with my family - especially my three amazing kids. And my favorite pastime is hosting parties, so much so that my husband and I kicked off our married life together with a 400-person wedding rager that ended up in Elegant Bride magazine.

  • Ashley has a great eye for design and is the person who keeps everything on track without making it feel like work. Detail-oriented and genuinely invested in every project she touches.

OUTSIDE THE STUDIO: You'll find her hanging with her nephews — fun aunt duties in full swing — or poolside in Palm Desert, feet kicked up and a chilled glass of rosé in hand.

  • Cia keeps the studio running smoothly behind the scenes — organizing vendor details, building out spreadsheets, and handling all the unglamorous-but-absolutely-essential details that keep a well-run studio humming.

OUTSIDE THE STUDIO: She has a genuine love of learning — she's an art history buff, can place almost any city on a map without blinking, and can identify a remarkable amount of plants and flowers.

  • "Julie has been a integral part of my recent remodel. She provided a clear design vision that not only took pressure off me but saved me money in the long run. I'm a self proclaimed 'do it yourself' person, but it was a no brainer to have her on my side."
